Designing a Rapid-Response Clinical Resource During COVID-19

THE CHALLENGE
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare professionals urgently needed a trusted, centralized source for rapidly evolving treatment information. NIH was tasked with developing evidence-based COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines and needed a digital platform capable of communicating complex clinical recommendations clearly while accommodating frequent updates as new scientific evidence emerged.
THE APPROACH
As part of the ICF team supporting the initiative, I contributed to the design of the NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines website, helping translate highly technical clinical content into an accessible, organized digital experience.
The design needed to balance the authority and credibility expected of an NIH resource with the usability demands of healthcare professionals seeking critical information during an unprecedented public health emergency.
My work focused on creating clear visual hierarchy, intuitive presentation of complex information, and a scalable design system that could support continuously evolving guidance.
